Green Company
Michtine Labs is an environmentally friendly company. In all aspects of our operations we strive to limit our impact on the planet and environment and have programs to counteract some of our impact. We are virtually a paperless company; any paper we use is post consumer recycled and we recycle any waste paper we encounter.

A Tree Planted For Each New Account
For every new hosting account at Michtine Labs, we will plant a tree through a partnership with American Forests. Trees have an amazing ability to help the environment. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the environment and replace it with oxygen and filter and trap pollutants. The average tree exhales enough oxygen for a family of 4 each year. Tree roots help reduce erosion and filter water. Planting a tree may be the single best thing we can do for the planet, and we are stepping up.
Green Employees
Michtine Labs employees are remote employees. This means they work remotely from their own homes. Not only do we eliminate any environmental impact from the daily commute, we do not need to heat or cool office space for our employees or run computer equipment for them. This arrangement is far more efficient than a central office and is exceptionally beneficial for our employees and the environment.
Energy Efficient Servers
Our greatest negative impact on the environment is through the power we use to run our servers and computer equipment. When purchasing new equipment or replacing existing, we go out of our way to find the most efficient technologies.
Renewable Energy Certificates
It is popular with other companies to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates and proudly proclaim they are green and are running on green energy. Unfortunately it is seldom that cut and dry. The purchaser of the credit is usually still using energy generated by conventional methods. At this time we feel the benefit of the certificates is murky. We are more likely to purchase the credits based on a belief in the technology and to encourage use & further research than the feel good proclamation of using green energy. We continue to research these options.
